Typically her alarm was silenced four or five times before she found the energy to roll out of bed and get to her day, but last night had been full of more restlessness than sleep and she had been awake long before the clock told her to be. Lucy stepped into the shower, now much less worried about Alexis waking from the noise, and decided that since she had the extra time before her roommates would be up and about she would channel her nervous energy into making breakfast for them all. Lucy West smoothed back the pieces of red hair that had escaped the clip on the back of her head, tucking them behind her ears, and blew her nose into a tissue. Now that she could see and breathe, Lucy decided it was as good a time as any to go home. Peter had long since left in a cloud of climate-change-inducing Hummer exhaust, after all; there was apparently nothing left to talk about.
